An academic consultant that does not practice in a specific field is not considered an expert. The same applies to a disability rights lawyer who does not practice in this area. Although he may be an expert on a topic, he will not be an expert on disability discrimination. Experienced in disability discrimination will be better equipped to gather evidence that a case might be worth investigating.
